At start of desiging Anypass, we wanted to create a transfer app could really help transfer files between Mac and iPhone easily like breeze. The idea was simple, it’s just not that easy for us to build one. Instead of talking what kind of tech specs we used in Anypass, let’s talking about how Anypass brings the easy for transfer files between Mac and iPhone.
The easy concept
First thing first, we had this goal to keep things easy and simple, and when we introduce this goal to customers, it’s interpreted as: Anypass has the ability to transfer any files to anyone on any device at any size, customers can use it not only to transfer files between Mac and iPhone, but also easily pass files to others like co-workers, family members, friends, etc. Plus, we need to make this application so simple that any starters will know how to use it right away. And then, this task is delivered to our developers as:
The easy operations
Along with the easy concept, we also made Anypass incredibly easy to use, there were two functions we need to consider carefully:
Send files away
View received files
These two points are where we struggled most when designing the interface of Anypass.
Start from sending files, when we want to send something away, we prefer to do that really fast without interrupt the current work we’re working at, what we don’t like is we need to
1. open a new window or application to prepare the destinations,
2. select the files to send.
It’s much better we could have all destinations are waiting for chosen, and drag&drop to go. An auto hidden hot tray n the top edge of your Mac with all online destinations listed inside will just do the job perfectly. All you’ll need to do to send files away is simply drag and drop the files to the contact icon in the Hot Tray. The same Hot Tray is also available on iPhone app as well. That’s pretty easy to do isn’t it?
Hot Tray in Anypass for Mac
View files, it’s another daily using function. The problem for view files is how to quick find and quick look the files. So, instead of put everything in Download folder, Desktop, or Documents folder, we put everything into Anypass’s library as Sandbox required, however, we made this quick under the Anypass menu icon to let customers access all received files by simply clicks, and the open page in Anypass for iPhone, besides, quick look is supported on both Mac and iPhone for the most popular formats, like Office, iWorkd documents, Pdf files, music, photo or video files.
So, that’s the easy operations you’ll need to know for using Anypass, straight forward.
To sum up, to transfer files between Mac and iPhone easily is the priority goal for designing Anypass. From the idea, UI design, to the operation, workflow, etc. hours and hours are spent to make things as easy as possible, plus, we’ll keep upgrade Anypass to make a ‘it just works app’ for everyone needed to transfer files with easy!
