We’ve upgraded our lovely image resource application Sparkbox, there are great new features are added into the program, like we added support for .gif images support!
here below are more details:
• Added support for OS 10.8 Mountain Lion;
• Added support for Sandbox;
• Added support for .gif format;
• Added Mouseover indicator for Color search;
• Fixed the bug of exporting snapped images to Adobe CS5;
• Optimized the efficiency of Empty trash;
• Fixed other small bugs.
NOTICE: There are customers having problems with their new upgrade if they downloaded the Sparkbox from Mac App Store. The issue is because the pervious Sparkbox library location is conflicting with the Sandboxing rules. Please relocate your library manually to solve this issue as guided below:
1. Find your Sparkbox library in the following location:
/Users/username/Library/Application Support/com.icyblaze.Sparkbox/library.db
2. MOVE the library folder to the following location:
Users/library/containers/com.icyblaze.Sparkbox/Data/
(These locations are hidden folders, you may watch this guide below to show this location in your Mac:http://www.wikihow.com/See-Hidden-Folders-on-Mac-OS-X-and-Other-Recent-Models)
3. Relaunch your Sparkbox and Sparkbox will ask you to choose a library, and then choose the new location for the library.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience, however, as the Sandboxing rules stated, all third party application data can be only written in the pointed location as Apple asked.

Just thought I’d clarify for others how to fix the problem -as those instructions aren’t quite right:
Firstly the library location is: Users/library/containers/com.icyblaze.Sparkbox/Data/
Not: Users/library/containers/com.icyblaze.Sparkbox.Data/
Because of the nature of the crashing, it is also not possible to get to Sparkbox Preferences pane in order to ‘Reconnect’ the library. Instead you have to;
1) make a copy of the existing library (just a precaution)
2) Uninstall Sparkbox (I use AppZapper for uninstalling apps)
3) Reinstall Sparkbox from the MacAppstore
4) Move the Library to the above filepath
5) Open the newly installed Sparkbox and go the Preference pane > Advacned tab, and Reconnect with the library by selecting the Sparkbox Library at the above filepath.
Done.
Very much appreciated for your feedback, and I’ll correct the guide steps…

“An application error has occurred. This error will cause instability and it is recommended you quit and relaunch Sparkbox.”
Please follow the blog post to relocate the Sparkbox library to solve this issue.
The correct path to put the library is: Users//library/containers/com.icyblaze.Sparkbox/Data/
My library was in a dropbox folder .. you know to backup it automatically ..
Does this mean that I can’t locate my library in Dropbox ?
Very very anoying ..
Hi Fred,
I’m afraid the answer is yes. Sandboxing rules limited the access towards the public folders, which also included the Cloud folders like Dropbox folder. We’re hoping Apple would change the rules, but before Apple make any changes, Only the download version of Sparkbox can store the library anywhere as you wanted.

Ok this isn’t working for me at all. Deleted the app using app zapper moved the library file to the prescribed location and I am still getting the same error. Also the instructions are somewhat unclear
1. Find your Sparkbox library in the following location:
/Users/username/Library/Application Support/com.icyblaze.Sparkbox/library.db
2. MOVE the library folder to the following location:
Users/library/containers/com.icyblaze.Sparkbox/Data/
Are we moving just the .db file or the whole sparkbox library?
The containers folder has a bunch of aliases to the desktop, documents etc is this correct?
Hi Derek,
Thanks for the update, let’s get this done step by step. Would you find the file: Sparkbox library under the location we mentioned or If you moved the library or created another library by yourself before. then you shall have another library at other places.
After you find the library, simply move the library file to the Data folder as Apple required. Yes, there are many different folders under the container folder. that’s normal.
After that, we restart Sparkbox, and the program shall ask if you’d like to choose the library or create a new one as the original library was moved away. Click choose library and reconnect the library from Sparkbox. You shall then restart the program normally again.
